Looking for an immersive nature experience in Inverloch? The newly developed Screw Creek Interpretive Trail offers an unforgettable guided walk through pristine coastal bushland, where you’ll discover rich local history, breathtaking views, and diverse wildlife. This two-hour adventure, led by an Education Officer from Bunurong Coast Education, takes you along a scenic boardwalk, across Screw Creek, and up to the stunning headland of Townsend Bluff, overlooking Anderson Inlet, Venus Bay, and Point Smythe.
A Scenic Walk with History and Wildlife
The Screw Creek Interpretive Trail has been carefully designed by the South Gippsland Conservation Society to highlight the natural beauty and cultural significance of the area. The trail seamlessly connects to the existing Screw Creek Nature Walk, allowing visitors to explore towering old-growth trees, lush melaleuca stands, and striking coastal gum trees along the way.
As you walk, your guide will share insights into Inverloch’s early settlement, the diverse plant and animal life surrounding the trail, and fascinating folklore linked to the coastal cliffs. Keep an eye out for koalas resting in the trees, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot some of the native birdlife that calls this area home.
Breathtaking Views from Townsend Bluff
The highlight of the walk is reaching the top of Townsend Bluff, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views across Anderson Inlet. From here, you can admire the stunning coastline stretching towards Eagles Nest, a well-known geological formation that adds to the area’s natural charm.
