Melbourne Food & Wine Festival and The Village Feast

Looking for a fantastic reason to escape the city? The 2023 Village Feast in the charming town of Inverloch this November promises a delightful day filled with flavor-packed local produce and culinary talent from all over Australia.

Who’s joining the feast?

Attendees will be delighted to know that The Cook Up’s very own Adam Liaw is leading the culinary charge, teaming up with renowned chef Thi Le of Anchovy, Jeow, and Ca Com fame. Paul Carmichael, the culinary maestro behind Momofuku Seiobo’s world-renowned Caribbean cuisine, is collaborating with local hero Nick Mahlook and his talented Sodafish crew. The icing on the cake? Author, MasterChef champion, and pastry extraordinaire Emelia Jackson is joining forces with the social sensation known as The Invy Baker. Mod Dining’s Chef Clayton Wells is teaming up with Paynesville’s culinary champions at Sardine Dining. Victor Churchill’s Chef Vincenzo Ursini is set to wow guests alongside Trevor Perkins and the Hogget Kitchen crew, creating a meat-lover’s paradise. And that’s not all – Leonardo’s is partnering with Trulli to bring attendees the best of town and country pizza, while Raph Rashid and the Taco Truck, with special guests Ricos Tacos, will serve up tantalizing tacos. Don’t forget to satisfy your sweet tooth with Gippsland Jersey’s delectable ice-cream sundaes and more. Fine Gippsland cheese from Udder & Hoe awaits, and for all chocolate cravings, there’s Cuvée Chocolate.

With 10 food stalls and engaging conversations in the Chef Shack, hosted by the seasoned traveler Sofia Levin, this is a gastronomic adventure attendees won’t want to miss.

And for the thirsty souls?

The Village Feast has your drinks covered! Attendees can enjoy a wide range of beverages at seven festival bars, managed by renowned producers like Patrick Sullivan, William Downie, Momento Mori, Bandicoot Run, Dirty Three Wines, Sailors Grave, Good Land Brewing, Gurneys Cider, and Loch Brewery and Distillery. If that’s not enough to dazzle, there’s an additional 14 top-tier winemakers offering complimentary tastings at the Wine Gippsland Cellar. For those looking for a more structured drinks experience, they can join the chats in the Drinks Shack, hosted by Dan Sims and Shanteh Wale. And yes, all the drinks are available for purchase, allowing attendees to stock up for the summer silly season ahead.

What else can one do?

Attendees can immerse themselves in the festival’s vibrant atmosphere with live bands, DJs, and sea shanty sing-alongs providing the soundtrack. The Village Market is the place to be for those looking to explore local produce, unique gifts, and artisanal treasures. Don’t miss out on painter Lucy Hersey’s popular art workshops, and bring the kids to the new Kids’ Zone for activities and games, including cupcake decorating, sandcastle competitions, and, of course, face painting.

Live performances at the Village Feast include Alex Lloyd, Kim Churchill, Cool Out Sun, Maddy May, Invy Horn Jam and Ozone.

Make it a weekend to remember! Extend the stay and fully immerse in the experience. Exciting adventures are planned for Friday afternoon and evening, Saturday morning and night, and on Sunday. Whether one is interested in wine, cheese, and music with William Downie and Rachel Needoba at Guendulain Farm, a sumptuous Georgian feast with Gray & Gray and Momento Mori at The Borough, pinot blending at Fleet Wines’ new cellar door, or a Gippsland cheese and dairy masterclass hosted by Mould Cheese at the Kongwak Butter Factory, there’s something special for everyone.

For early birds on Sunday, they can join the local Icebergers for a refreshing morning swim at the beach, followed by a tasty Inverloch Egg and Amber Creek bacon roll paired with a steaming cup of coffee.
